Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Surat Riders Cycling (“we”, “our”, “the app”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. The app is a private club application for members of the Surat Riders cycling community in Surat, India. It is powered by Strava for authentication and activity data, and Google Firebase for backend services.
1. Who we are
Surat Riders Cycling is operated for the Surat Riders club. The app is intended only for invited club members who enter a valid club access code before signing in.
2. Information we collect
From Strava (with your consent)
- Profile information (e.g. name, profile photo, location if available on Strava)
- Strava athlete ID
- Cycling activities (ride type, distance, duration, elevation, dates, activity names)
- OAuth tokens (access and refresh tokens) stored securely on your device and used to sync data
We request Strava scopes: profile:read_all and activity:read_all.
We do not write or modify your Strava activities.
- Club access code — validated on our server to confirm membership; we do not store the code on your device after validation beyond a local “access granted” flag and version number.
- Account identifier — a stable Firebase user ID linked to your Strava athlete ID (
strava_{athleteId}). - Synced app data — aggregated distances (yearly, monthly, weekly), leaderboard rankings, century rides (100 km+), and activity summaries stored in Firebase Firestore to power app features.
- App preferences — theme setting (light/dark/system) stored locally on your device.
3. How we use your information
- Authenticate you via Strava and maintain your session
- Display your personal cycling statistics and charts
- Show club leaderboard rankings (weekly, monthly, yearly)
- List your century rides (100 km and above)
- Allow club members to search for other riders in the app
- Operate and secure the app (e.g. access gate, server-side validation)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or Strava data to third parties for advertising or marketing.
4. Third-party services
- Strava — login and activity data. Strava’s privacy policy applies to data held by Strava: strava.com/legal/privacy
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions) — hosting and processing club app data. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Data may be processed on servers located outside India. By using the app, you consent to this processing where required by applicable law.
5. Data storage and security
Strava tokens are stored on your device. Club profile and synced activity summaries are stored in Firebase Firestore. We use industry-standard security (HTTPS, Firebase security rules, server-side validation). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
We retain your data while you use the app and your Strava connection remains active. If you log out, revoke the app in Strava settings, or request deletion, we will stop syncing new data. Historical club data may remain until removed by an administrator or upon a verified deletion request.
7. Your choices and rights
- Revoke Strava access — Strava → Settings → My Apps → revoke Surat Riders Cycling
- Log out — in the app Profile screen
- Request access or deletion — contact us using the email on the Google Play or App Store listing, or the club administrator
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Strava API compliance
Our use of Strava data complies with the Strava API Agreement and brand guidelines. Strava data is displayed only to authenticated club members for the purposes described above.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
